Monmouth County SPCA: A Haven For Homeless Texas Dogs And Cats
More rescued animals from Texas arriving on Monday

EATONTOWN, NJ - Workers at the Monmouth County SPCA are prepping for the arrival of 80 shelter dogs and cats from Texas to help make room for more animals in shelters in the battered state.
The animals were all in shelters in Houston and San Antonio before Hurricane Harvey hit.
"We want to clarify that the animals coming up from Texas are NOT animals that have been separated from their families during the storm and they are animals that had already been in the shelters," according to the SPCA's Facebook page. "The purpose of taking these animals out of shelters is to make room for the hundreds of lost, injured, displaced and temporarily homeless animals who have been affected by the storm."

The SPCA has again teamed with Wings of Rescue, a non-profit organization that transports animals out of dire situations via aircraft. The animals are tentatively slated to arrive at Morristown Airport on Monday evening.
“Our hearts go out to the people on the front lines during this devastating time in Texas,” Monmouth County SPCA Medical Director Dr. Nicole Feddersen “We have been working to send supplies down as well as bring animals up to help lift the burden of the already weighted situation. We will continue to do everything we can and thank the community for their continued support of our mission.”
