Netflix Launches Fort Monmouth Film Studios Website

Construction on the first four film studios is expected to start at the end of 2025. Netflix plans to open at Fort Monmouth in 2028.

EATONTOWN, NJ — On Tuesday, Netflix launched a first-ever website to share updates on the development of its planned film studio campus on the old Fort Monmouth Army base.

The website is netflixnewjersey.com.

"The new site will be the official source for the latest news, events and opportunities related to Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth," a Netflix spokesman said in announcing the site. "We aim to keep the community that has welcomed us to New Jersey informed and engaged as we grow together. We encourage you to explore and stay connected with us."

Photos on the new website show Netflix has been getting involved with the Jersey Shore community: Netflix employees volunteered at Fulfill Food Bank on MLK Day just last week, participated in at Veterans' Day appreciation event at JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River and met with young filmmakers at a film festival held at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. Gov. Phil Murphy's administration gave Netflix hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks to build a production facility at Fort Monmouth. Netflix plans to build 12 film studios (Netflix calls them soundstages) and ancillary production offices on the former U.S. Army base. Construction on the first four soundstages is expected to start at the end of 2025, or even early 2026. Netflix plans to open at Fort Monmouth in 2028.

Netflix says it will cost them $848 million to build the film studio. Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos said he estimates opening Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth will create 1,500 permanent jobs in the movie industry.
