Seabrook Offers Impressive Amenities, Predictable Finances, and Lasting Value

Larry and Alexis Platoni say that moving to Seabrook was a great decision.

Managing the maintenance of their multifamily house in Bergen County, N.J., had become a headache for Larry and Alexis Platoni.

Looking for an easier retirement lifestyle that made financial sense, they visited Seabrook, an Erickson Senior Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J.

"Our youngest son's mother-in-law lives at an Erickson community called Greenspring in Virginia, and they are very impressed with the way it is managed," Larry explains. "When it came time for us to look around, they suggested Seabrook."

With maintenance-free residences, predictable monthly expenses, and convenient access to an array of amenities, Erickson Senior Living residents spend less time stressing over unexpected repairs and finances and more time pursuing their hobbies and interests.

Now, as residents at Seabrook, Larry and Alexis are making the most of their newfound free time and enjoying retirement!

Predictable expenses

Larry and Alexis were drawn to Seabrook's pricing structure, which is made up of two components--a monthly service package and a 90% refundable entrance fee.*

The monthly service package bundles the costs of most utilities, home maintenance and repair, a meal plan at on-site restaurants, professional landscaping, regularly scheduled transportation, and more into one bill.

"It's about predictability," explains Neal Fiore, finance manager for Seabrook. "When you live here, you don't have to worry about out-of-pocket expenses like appliance repairs. If you need a new fridge, that's on us."

There are also expenditures that don't have to be made while living at Seabrook. There are no hefty mortgage payments, homeowner's insurance bills, or property taxes that rise each year.

"I tell prospective residents to consider their current monthly expenses--mortgage, taxes, restaurant costs, electricity, and upcoming repairs," Fiore adds. "Living at Seabrook is less costly."

'Peace of mind'

The Platonis' financial stability is further strengthened by Seabrook's industry-leading, 90% refundable entrance fee--the heart of the community's pricing structure. The entrance fee, collected as part of the residency process, will go back to you or your beneficiaries if or when you leave the community.

"It's a good way to put that money aside and be sure it will be there [for our beneficiaries] in our estate," says Larry.

Larry and Alexis were also impressed by the community's Home for Life promise.*

No one ever expects to run out of money, but sometimes unforeseen issues arise that can quickly deplete your hard-earned savings and put you at risk.

At Seabrook, we've planned for life's uncertainties and are prepared to assist eligible residents who outlive their resources. No one will be asked to leave the community because of a genuine inability to pay.

"We have peace of mind, knowing that we can age in place here and take advantage of all there is here without worrying about finances," notes Alexis. "Comparing what Seabrook gives you with other communities, it's phenomenal. We couldn't ask for anything better."

A vibrant lifestyle

Without the stress and hassle of home maintenance, residents have more time to pursue their hobbies and interests--especially since access to the community's amenities is also included in the monthly service package.

Seabrook boasts an expansive fitness and aquatics center, theater, woodshop, library, bocce courts, miniature golf, and dozens of clubs.

Alexis refers to Seabrook as a "city within a city," as a bank, pharmacy, and medical center are also located right on campus. "We don't have to leave the community if we don't want to," she says.

She spends many afternoons playing in mah-jongg and canasta groups. In fact, she mastered canasta enough to teach a class

for neighbors who are new to the game. Larry is a proud member of the Resident Advisory Council's leadership team and philanthropy committee.

Together, they play Rummikub with another couple and regularly attend lectures, shows, and concerts in the community theater.

"There are so many good things to do here," Alexis says. "There's always something going on."

The right move

For the Platonis, moving to Seabrook has brought them value, peace of mind, new friendships, and more time to make the most of retirement.

"We liked the value that Seabrook offered," says Larry.

"We've met absolutely wonderful people. They make us feel at home here," Alexis adds. "In the hallways and around the community, everyone says hello with a smile. It's been the best experience I could imagine. I am truly happy we came here."
