The Shore Regional class of 2012 beat the heat on Wednesday afternoon as the seniors held their commencement ceremony at the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) at Monmouth University.
Shore Regional Board of Education President Ronald O'Neill said the ceremony was held at the MAC for the third year and that everybody gathered to "honor and celebrate the achievements of the class of 2012."

"You have all brought true honor to your families and your school," O'Neill said.
Salutatorian Abigail Reinhard gave a unique speech where she used one adjective to describe each member of her graduating class.

Valedictorian Chelsey Henderson gave another speech where she gave advice to the graduates.
"High school has been the time when change from small, awkward eighth graders to what we are today," Henderson said. "Always continue to push yourself."
Students who received awards and scholarships last week were honored once again by the school and Class President Jacob Laurino wished the departing seniors the best of luck.
