Shore Regional Class Reunion Brings Back Memories and Creates New Ones

The Shore Regional Class of 1987 recently held an eventful 25-year reunion at the high school and in Asbury Park.

Members of the class returned to Shore for a time-capsule recovery and tour on Friday, June 8. Although the class's time-capsule went unfound, alumni attendees were treated to witness the contents of 1962's time capsule, recently retrieved from within the school's foundation.

A tour of the building was conducted for the alumni wherein they were able to see all the changes that have occurred over the past 25 years like the school's media center, fitness center, gymnasium, dance studio and television studio.

After the tour, the class celebrated its reunion that evening at Aqua Lounge in Asbury Park.

Ronnie Jackson, class of '87 alumni and founder of Carvin Art (www.carvinart.com), displayed and raffled off one of his "woodburn" art pieces at the reunion as well. 

Over $500.00 generated by the raffle will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Ward Coles, a fellow Shore Regional class of '87 alum who lost his battle with cancer in 2001.

Jackson's artwork primarily focuses around carving beach and ocean themes from the foam core of old surfboards.

"Ronnie's growing popularity among the surf and art community along the Jersey Shore has really made a positive impact throughout the community." said Jamie Meola Saponaro, reunion organizer and Jackson classmate.  "Ronnie's kind and charitable donation in honor and remembrance of our fellow classmate Ward Coles really shows the strength and unity of our class, even after 25 years."
