Shore Regional High School has been awarded five grants from the School Development Authority (SDA) grant program.

The grants total $379,600 and will be used to make upgrades to school's facilities.

The grants will not pay for the entire cost of the scheduled improvements, which total  $949,999, but will lower the Shore Regional's portion of the payment to $569,399.

The grants will provide funds for five projects:

• Replacement of the PA and clock system.

• Replacement of corridor doors.

• Upgrades to the auditorium including the replacement of the flooring with new carpeting and vinyl composition tile as well as the replacement of seating with new, upholstered molded-shell chairs.

• Reconfiguration of the existing music room to accommodate large group instruction, practice room, instrument storage and ADA ramp for handicapped accessibility.

• Replacement of the water and main water supply valve.

“The Shore Regional High School District is appreciative to have these grants to support improvements that will benefit our students,” Superintendent Thomas G. Farrell said in a release. “The grants afforded Shore Regional the opportunity to bring our facilities and our overall educational environment into the 21st century.”

The SDA grant program funds at least 40 percent of eligible costs for projects undertaken by schools that address health and safety issues, student overcrowding and other needs. Shore Regional has received nearly $497,935 in grants through the SDA grant program.
