The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County is pleased to welcome Cory Cuomo as its new vice president of Counseling & Social Services. With 30 years of experience in mental health and social services, Cuomo joins a team that has been providing compassionate, professional support to children, teens, and adults navigating depression, substance use, trauma, and other mental health challenges since 1974.

Cuomo, of East Brunswick, most recently served as program director of Specialized Outpatient Programming for Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. A licensed clinical social worker, he holds a master’s in social work from Rutgers University and brings extensive experience across outpatient, inpatient, and acute care settings, along with school- and community-based services.

“Cory brings an ideal mix of skills to our Counseling & Social Services team,” said YMCA of Greater Monmouth County President & CEO Laurie Goganzer. “He has experience in developing programs from the ground up, as well as improving the outcomes and impact of existing ones. His expertise in grant administration, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with state and federal agencies will be an asset at a time when funding remains a challenge. I’m confident Cory will help us maintain and even expand our reach in the Jersey Shore region.”

Cuomo’s background also includes community outreach to promote service availability to people in need of crisis services who may go unnoticed. He is dedicated to creating a sense of community and a shared vision at the Y.

“I’ve been an active member of the Princeton YMCA of Greater Somerset County as a head judo instructor since 1994, so I’m thrilled to bring my administrative and social work skills to the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County,” said Cuomo. “My guiding belief is that if those of us in greatest need are given the tools, support, and resources to thrive, then we will all succeed.”
