West Long Branch Police To Start Neighborhood Watch Program

Program to be created after latest string of burglaries

 

The string of burglaries that has plagued the borough in recent months has caused the West Long Branch Police to begin a Neighborhood Watch program.

West Long Branch Police Capt. Lawrence Mihlon confirmed that the department is going to start "some sort of Neighborhood Watch" program in the near future.

Capt. Mihlon said he and Detective Mike Paolantonio will be attending a class next week to learn how to implement the program.

The police, on the department's Facebook page, have asked residents what their thoughts on starting a Neighborhood Watch program are and the feedback appeared to be positive.

There have been multiple burglaries reported over the last few months with most occurring in the are around An occurred in the Avalon apartment complex on Monmouth Road last week as well.

Capt. Mihlon has said the string of burglaries and the armed robbery do not appear to be related incidents.
