Cops administered CPR, defibrillator in June to save man, 64.

Four of Washington Township’s finest received recognition from the township committee this week for their role in saving a man’s life over the summer.
Cpl. James Burns, Cpl. Kirk Griffin, and Officers Daniel Parrish and Ryan Olah sprung into action on June 28 when the report of an unconscious man came into the dispatch center.
The officers responded to the Columbia Trail off of Fairview Avenue and found a 64-year-old male unconscious with CPR being rendered by another person.

Officers took over the CPR and used a defibrillator. Several shocks were administered while the patient was being transferred to the care of the Long Valley First Aid Squad. The man was then transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by helicopter, and while en route he regained consciousness and was alert enough to speak with the medical staff.
The men were honored at the Washington Township Committee’s Monday, Sept. 21 meeting.
