NJ Woman Dials 9-1-1 During Traffic Stop, Now Faces Charges: Cops

The woman called 9-1-1 at least two times while being investigated, police said.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Toms River woman is now facing charges after she misused the 9-1-1 emergency call system during a traffic stop, according to police.

On Dec. 16, Jessica A. Keough, 30, was pulled over for an unrelated traffic violation in Franklin Borough.

During the interaction, Keough called 9-1-1 “despite being in the presence of patrol officers who were actively investigating her driving behavior,” police said.

Police advised her that calling 9-1-1 when there is not an active emergency is a chargeable offense, authorities said.

However, Keough called anyway, requiring two more officers to arrive at the scene, police said.
