ALLAMUCHY, NJ β€” Five teens were injured in a single-car crash on Shades of Death Road in Allamuchy on Labor Day, New Jersey State Police said.

The teens were driving north just before 1:30 a.m. when their car went off the road and struck a tree, Sgt. Jeffrey Flynn, told Patch. No other cars were involved.

The driver, Anatoli Chigai, 18, of Hackettstown, was the only adult in the car. The passengers were all minors.

Chigai and two others were seriously injured, while two more passengers sustained moderate injuries. Three people were taken to the hospital by medical helicopter, while the other two were taken by ambulance.

It's not clear what caused the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation by New Jersey State Police, Flynn said.
