$9,500 In Donations, Grants Given To Washington Twp. Schools

Board accepts large sum at February meeting.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – The Washington Township School district is accustomed to receiving grants and donations through fundraisers thanks to community organizations and businesses.

But at its last regular meeting on Feb. 9, the school board accepted a minor windfall to help a variety of school buildings.

In total, the district was either granted or received donations in the amount of $9,586.13.

The benefactors and recipients are as follows:

  • $500.00 from the Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Grant Award to be used at the Flocktown-Kossmann School for a math/science project.
  • $300.00 from the Long Valley Woman’s Club to be used at the Long Valley Middle School library.
  • $3,090.00 from the Cucinella PTO to be used at the Cucinella School for homeroom grants.
  • $4,446.13 gifts in kind from the Cucinella PTO to be used at the Cucinella School for teacher grants.
  • $1,250.00 matching gift from New York Life (Arphiela Arizmendi) to be used at the Old Farmers Road School for educational programs.

The next Washington Township Schools board of education meeting will be held Feb. 23 at the Benedict A. Cucinella School at 7 p.m. with open session beginning at 7:30 p.m.
