Adickes Family Has 'No Words Adequate' to Express Gratitude

'So many kindnesses were extended,' in the wake of Joshua Adickes' tragic death.

To the Editor:

June 30th is a day that changed our family forever and the days that followed were numbing. So many people reached out to help us get through those days — it is very touching.

How do you thank an entire community for reaching out to hold you up when all you want to do is crumble? "There are no words" is a phrase that we heard hundreds of times these past weeks but now we need to say it ourselves to the people of Long Valley, surrounding communities and Ocean City, Maryland.

I hesitate to list those that need to be thanked because you always run the risk of forgetting someone. That, coupled with the fact that so many kindnesses were extended to our family and we don't even know who did them. The support from the Washington Township Police Department and other local police departments, the Schooleys Mountain Fire Company, my West Morris Central family, the congregation of the Highlands Presbyterian Church, the monetary donations and the endless supply of food.

You all helped us get through the most difficult time of our lives and "there are no words" adequate to express our gratitude. So please know it was all greatly appreciated.
