Summer Pickleball Is Coming To Long Valley: Here's How To Sign Up

The five-week program welcomes both beginner and advanced players.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Break out those paddles, because pickleball is officially coming to Long Valley!

The Washington Township Recreation Department has announced the launch of adult pickleball sessions this summer. With the town collaborating with TJD Sports Academy, residents will have the opportunity to take lessons from pros and play with their friends and neighbors.

“America’s fastest-growing sport is easy to learn, fast-paced, and perfect for players of all experience levels,” a statement read. “In addition, it is a fantastic way to meet new people and stay active while having a blast!”

Beginner to advanced beginner lessons will be held at the Rock Spring Park Tennis Courts in Long Valley. Those participating can expect to “learn essential skills, refine your game, and boost your confidence.” The programs are scheduled below:

  • Thursdays, July 10 - Aug. 14 (rain date Aug. 21), 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Saturdays, July 12 - Aug. 9 (rain date Aug. 16), 9 - 10 a.m. or 10 - 11 a.m.

Experienced players are able to attend “Play with a Pro” sessions, which provide “an opportunity to sharpen strategies and elevate play with expert coaching during guided open play.”

The five-week program costs $165 per person, according to the Recreation Department’s website. A nonrefundable fee is due by July 8, 2025, to secure your place and to avoid the $25 late fee.
