Annual Holiday House Decorating Contest Returns To Long Valley

Decorating your home with multicolored lights, snowman figurines and reindeer-pulled sleighs is all about sharing festive cheer.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β€” Are you particularly proud of your holiday decorations this year? In the spirit of Clark Griswold from "Christmas Vacation," the most inventive and festive-looking homes and businesses may be considered for municipal recognition.

Washington Township Recreation is hosting its fourth annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest, which Mayor Matt Murello has referred to as the β€œHoliday Light Fight.”

Residents are invited to enter their homes in Washington Township's holiday home decorating contest. The deadline to register is Dec. 4, and judging will take place starting Dec. 11.

To compete in this contest, an entry form indicating intent to participate must be completed, signed, and sent to Washington Township Recreation by Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

The winners will be announced to the public at the township's "Jolly Jamboree" on Dec. 16, 2023, at 4 p.m. at the Rock Spring Park Pavilion, with a rain date of Dec. 17. Each family must send a representative so that photos can be taken, officials said.
