Police 'Reel In' Community At Long Valley Fishing Derby
The local PBA 301 has been hosting the annual fishing derby for Washington Township residents for nearly 30 years.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Fishing Derby is back — and Long Valley kids are invited to cast a line with local police this summer.
The annual Fishing Derby is set for June 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Kohler's Pond located off of Flocktown Road and Rock Road in Washington Township, rain or shine, according to officials.
State law requires anyone between the ages of 16 and 69 to have a fishing license, so the event is open only to children under the age of 12, police added.

Children will have the chance to cast their lines in the park’s stocked pond, with prizes awarded for categories like most fish, biggest fish, smallest fish, and most unusual catch—just like in previous years. To help everyone stay cool, refreshments will be available, including snacks and a variety of drinks for all.
The Fishing Derby has been a sponsored tradition for nearly 30 years, with only a two-year pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.
