Another Long Valley Eagle Scout Recognized

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The picnic grove at Long Valley’s Palmer Park is one of the newest amenities in Washington Township, thanks to the efforts of Boy Scout Drew Miller.

Miller, who is a member of Flanders Boy Scout Troop 156, was honored recently for his contribution to Long Valley through his Eagle Scout project, as well as reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor for Boy Scouts.

Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello presented Miller with a proclamation on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the United Presbyterian Church in Flanders.

Murello had the opportunity to meet Miller’s entire family, including his grandfather, who also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout himself, Murello added.

Miller, who is a senior with West Morris Central High School’s Class of 2022, designed and built the tables within the picnic area of Palmer Park’s snack bar in Oct. 2020 for his Eagle project, with brass plaques on the tables acknowledging his contributions.

“This picnic grove will be enjoyed by both town residents and visitors alike in the years to come,” the proclamation Murello presented to Miller on behalf of the Township of Washington, read.
