Bee Hive: 39 Compete In Annual Long Valley Spelling Competition
Flocktown fourth-grader takes top prize after correctly spelling 'Radium' in 14th round.
LONG VALLEY, N.J. β Aidan Burnell isnβt radioactive, but radium is certainly his new favorite word.
The fourth-grader from Flocktown Road School correctly spelled the chemical elementβs name in the 14th round of the Long Valley Junior Womenβs Clubβs 16th annual Spelling Bee held Saturday, Feb. 6 at Benedict A. Cucinella School.
A total of 39 students took part in the competition for fourth and fifth graders from Cucinella, Flocktown, and Old Farmers Road schools.

Second place went to Rameen Iftikhar, a Flocktown fifth-grader, and third place went to Amber Parikh, a Cucinella fifth-grader.
The top three contestants will now compete in the District Spelling Bee to be held Feb. 20 in Sparta.
