Burglary, DWI Charge In Long Valley: Police Blotter

A recent arrest was made in connection with a theft of more than $4,000 in the township, according to the police department.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley has seen a DWI arrest and an investigation into a theft of over $4000 from the township. The following information was compiled from Washington Township police department records.

On July 27, police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Naughright Road. During the course of the stop, it was learned that the driver, a 34-year-old male from Bushkill, Pennsylvania, had an outstanding criminal warrant.

The man, whose name has not been publicly released, was removed from the car and proceeded to resist arrest, the police department said. He was ultimately taken into custody without injury. In addition to the outstanding warrant, he was charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.

He was lodged at the Morris County Correctional facility pending extradition to Pennsylvania.

On July 27, police conducted another traffic stop on Reservoir Road. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, a 55-year-old male from Egg Harbor, had a number of outstanding criminal warrants from Millville.

The man, who has not been identified by police, was arrested and turned over to Millville Police.

On Aug. 2, officers responded to a radio call reporting a residential burglary on Sierra Drive. When they arrived, they discovered a shattered sliding glass door and that $4000 and some jewelry had been stolen from the home.

During the course of the initial investigation, a suspect was developed, who eventually came to be recognized as Arthur Terr, a 24-year-old from Hackettstown. Ultimately, detectives and police officers tracked down Terr's apartment in Hackettstown and arrested him.

Terr is now being held at the Morris County Jail pending his initial court appearance, according to Lt. Chris Bratus, though the investigation is still ongoing.

On Aug. 5, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on School Street in Califon Borough. The driver, a 41-year-old female from Lebanon Township, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The woman, who has not been identified publicly by police, was arrested and charged with DWI as well as other motor vehicle violations.

According to the police, she has since been released pending her initial appearance in court.
