Cell Phone Stop Leads To Deadbeat Dad Arrest In Washington Twp.: Cops
Paterson man with national warrant owes $22,640 in child support, police report.
LONG VALLEY, N.J. β A Paterson man driving through Washington Township was arrested over the weekend when police found him to be in default of more than $22,000 in child support payments, Lt. Doug Compton said.
Officer Ryan Olah conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue in Washington Township on Saturday, May 14, when he found Roger Frias, 48, using a cell phone while driving, Compton said.
A subsequent investigation showed Frias was driving with a suspended license and had an active National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) warrant in the amount of $22,640 for unpaid child support, Compton said.

Frias was arrested and charged with driving while suspended and improper use of a cell phone while driving. He was later turned over to the Passaic County Sheriffβs Department, where the warrant originated.
