Children’s Musical Theatre Program To Return To Long Valley

The eight-week program will "explore the magic of singing, dancing, and acting while collaborating on a lively mini musical production."

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Young, aspiring actors once again have the opportunity to hone their craft, or be introduced to it, in Long Valley’s Musical Theatre Enrichment program.

In January, the Musical Theatre Enrichment program will return, thanks to the Washington Township Recreation Department and co-coordinator and local theatre artist Jenny Boeckel.

The program is for children ages five to 13, and teaches the fundamentals of musical theatre.

“Have you ever dreamed of landing a role but felt you lacked the practice—or the courage to go for it? Musical Theatre Enrichment is the perfect opportunity to grow,” a statement read. “Students will explore the magic of singing, dancing, and acting while collaborating on a lively mini musical production.”

The eight-week program is from Jan. 19 to March. 16 at the Washington Township Community Center at 35 E. Springtown Road.

The program will be held on Mondays, with students five to nine years old coming from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and 10 to 13-year-olds from 5:35 to 6:35 p.m. (No class on Feb. 16).

Students can expect theater games, storytelling, and improvisation that will “ignite their imagination, strengthen self-expression, and gain the confidence to pursue the roles they’ve always wanted.”

A live performance for family and friends will be held on the program’s final day, “a joyful celebration of growth and talent.”
