Chiropractor From Morris Admits Taking $250K In Kickback Scheme: Authorities
Dr. Dimeo was being paid by other doctors, clinics to refer patients.

A recently retired chiropractor from Budd Lake pleaded guilty to taking more than $250,000 in kickbacks, Acting Attorney General Robert Lougy announced.
Dr. Alexander Dimeo, 61, with homes in Budd Lake and Fort Myers, Florida admitted to taking the money from other doctors and individuals for referring patients to their practices, clinics, and medical imaging centers, Lougy said.
Dimeo owned and operated Passaic Chiropractic & Therapy Center PC in Passaic and retired last year, Lougy said.

Dimeo pleaded guilty to conspiracy, money laundering, commercial bribery, three counts of third-degree commercial bribery, and failure to pay taxes.
Under the plea deal, Dimeo faces a sentence of seven years on the first accusation, and up to four years on a second accusation filed by the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor that charged the doctor with third-degree conspiracy. The sentences would run concurrent.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 22.
