Christmas Light Show Benefits Morris Co. Cop Battling 9/11 Cancer

WATCH: The extravagant home display will benefit a local police officer battling a 9/11-related cancer.

SUCCASUNNA, NJ β€” The Katz Family's annual Christmas light show is brightening lives with more than just lights. This year, their over-the-top display will benefit a Roxbury police officer fighting a 9/11-related cancer.

Put on by Rob and Melissa Katz, over 40,000 lights dance along to music on the front lawn of their Succasunna home. Visitors are asked to make a donation to benefit Tom DeNicola, a Roxbury police officer and Marine veteran battling multiple myeloma caused by chemical exposures at the World Trade Center in the weeks following 9/11. Donations can be left in a secure mailbox.

"What better way to say thank you to a true American hero by honoring him with 40,000 Christmas lights dancing to music," the couple write in an online preview of the light show.

Last year, the family raised funds for a Matt Adonis, a Roxbury 4th grader who was battling cancer. This is just the third year the family has put up the over-the-top display, and it's gotten bigger. Last year's show had 22,000 lights, Rob Katz told TapInto.
