Dave and Geralyn Hickey, the beloved coffee shop's owners, are embarking on their next adventure, leaving the coffee house in new hands.
LONG VALLEY, — The Coffee Potter is regarded by many as a cornerstone in the Washington Township neighborhood.
Longtime owners Dave and Geralyn Hickey have created a business that many customers believe exemplifies the town's sense of community.
The Hickey family announced their impending departure from Long Valley earlier this week. According to a public announcement from the owners, the Hickeys will relocate to Georgia to be closer to family members.

"There are obviously a number of factors that need to be considered when making such a big decision, but none is more important than the strength of the team we have built in Long Valley and the confidence we have in turning the reins of our dream over to Mike and Leah. Mike and Leah embody our vision of community," Dave and Geralyn said.
The future of the Coffee Potter is not in any danger, the family said, and they even have plans for a potential expansion. "We love adventure…And we are looking at this move to Georgia as a big one, hopefully establishing a Coffee Potter in the South very soon," the Hickeys said.

The Coffee Potter first opened its doors in early 2017, making it the only local coffee shop in town, and the Hickeys opened the coffee house with the mission of uniting and connecting the local community.
"The decision to move to Georgia to have our family united didn't come without a lot of careful thought and discussion. We love Long Valley, it's been home to us for over 25 years and the community that's been created through The Coffee Potter has become a second family to us," the Hickeys said.
The Coffee Potter is located at 24 Schooleys Mountain Road and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
