Deer Hunter Falls Into Sewer Drain: Hackettstown Police

Police say the man was trying to get a deer he had shot when the fall happened.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A hunter was injured Friday night after he fell into a sewer while trying to get a deer he had shot, police said.

Police say the man, a 47-year-old from town, was hunting with another person in the area of Old Allamuchy Road and Route 517 when the fall happened. The man had shot the deer with an arrow, and while trying to get to the deer, fell into an open sewer drain.

He was pulled out of the drain by the police, rescue squad and fire department. Because he sustained a head injury, he was taken by helicopter to Morristown Medical Center.
