LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Washington Township Police Department has had a busy few weeks, with outstanding warrants, DWIs, and more. Here’s what it has been up to:

$2.5K In Warrants

Washington Township police recently pulled over a driver on Route 46 for failing to maintain their lane, authorities said.

Police discovered that the 34-year-old driver, from Newark, had two active warrants, one for $2,000 out of Hazlet and another for $500 out of Newark.

The driver was issued a motor vehicle citation and released to await new court dates.

Shoplifting

Police responded to a local store on a report of shoplifting.

Authorities found that a 32-year-old from New York was trying to steal an item in the store, officials said.

The New Yorker was arrested for conspiracy and attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking of movable property. They were taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility to await court proceedings.

DWI

Washington Township Police recently pulled over a man on East Valley Brook Road after he displayed “erratic driving,” according to officials.

Police came to the conclusion that the 61-year-old Lodi man had been drunk behind the wheel, authorities said.

He was charged with several motor vehicle violations and later released to await court proceedings.
