Early Voting, Mail-In Ballots Available For Morris Co. Primary
Don't think you'll be able to make it to the polls? Here's how to get your vote in ahead of time.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The June 4 primary election will be here before you know it, and that means it's time to register for a mail-in ballot if you won't be able to head to the polls.
The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, May 14. Because New Jersey has closed primaries, you must be registered with a political party to vote in the primary.
All mail-in ballot requests must be received by the Morris County Clerk's Office by Tuesday, May 28 for a mail-in ballot to be issued.

A new law signed by Governor Phil Murphy in August drastically changed the Vote by Mail rules in New Jersey. These changes are effective immediately and will impact future elections.
One of the changes involves how a voter can apply for a Mail-In Ballot. Before the change in the law, a voter had three options on the application. The voter could opt to receive a Mail-In Ballot for one election, all elections in one calendar year, and all future general elections.
Now, a voter has only two options for voting by mail. A voter can request a Mail-In Ballot for one election or for all elections every year until the voter opts out in writing. Voters can download the updated Vote by Mail application here.
Most importantly, all voters who requested and received a Mail-In Ballot during the 2016 General Election have received a Mail-In Ballot for the 2018 General Election and are due to receive one for all future elections unless they have opted out by returning a form that was mailed to those voters in early September.
If you want to opt out of receiving mail-in ballots, you can find the form here. Once you receive a mail-in ballot, you cannot vote at the machine on election day (any in-person voting would take place on a provisional ballot).
