According to the committee, precedent calls for the appointment opportunity to go out to all the fire chiefs, who return with an appointment recommendation.
However, according to Short, the fire chiefs said that they were not going to make this recommendation.
Now it seems the task of choosing Tynan’s successor falls to the mayor and committee.
So far, two individuals have expressed interest in the position, although the committee could not reveal the names of the candidates.
“One is younger and one’s older, with more experience,” said Short. “(So we have to) come up with a recommendation.”
