Flooding Shuts Down Roads In Long Valley

​AccuWeather meteorologists warn of "dangerous to life-threatening conditions" stemming from rapid flooding, downed trees, and high winds.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Heavy overnight rains have caused road closures in Long Valley Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The following roads have been affected:

  • West Valley Brook Road, closed between Turtleback Road and Vernoy Road
  • Middle Valley Road, closed at the bridge by West Mill Road
  • Beacon Hill Road closed between Sierra Drive and Turtleback Road
  • East Avenue is closed by the border with Hackettstown

Drivers should not go around barricades and cones. If possible, plan an alternate route. It is unclear at this time as to how long the road will be closed.

The National Weather Service has issued many flood and wind alerts ahead of the storm. The worst weather was forecast last night, as heavy rain combined with melting snow in northern New Jersey counties.

The National Weather Service didn’t provide a rainfall total for Dover, but 2.9 inches fell in neighboring Chester.
