High Winds Knock Out Power to 218 Washington Twp. Homes Thursday
Outage lasted several hours in the afternoon.

Wind gusts hitting as much as 25 miles per hour had their way with power lines around midday Thursday, knocking out electricity to hundreds of Washington Township homes.
According to Jersey Central Power & Light, 218 township residences were without power just after noon on Thursday and spent most of the afternoon in the dark.
The cause of the outage was a tree laying on wires impacting the Chester substation, JCP&L said.

While Washington Township wasnβt alone in Morris County when it came to power outages, it was near the top of the list with just Denville β 317 residences β reporting moreΒ outages.
