History Comes Alive As Flocktown-Kossmann Students Honor Veterans

Members of AVAWT take part in two flag-raising ceremonies Monday.

Students at Flocktown and Kossmann schools had the opportunity to honor local veterans this week and learn about the history each former military member was part of.

American Veterans Association of Washington Township members Tom Holden, Woody Burgener, Tom McBride, Marty Fleisher, Joe Guella, Jay Vreeland, and Chuck Dauchert took part in two flag-raising ceremonies Monday morning and were serenaded by a student chorus singing patriotic songs, led by music teacher Jeanne Fessenden.

Following the ceremonies, the veterans shared their stories with the fifth grade students who are wrapping up their lessons on the Constitution. The veterans recounted their military experiences for the students, who were able to learn about the sacrifices made by each of the members.
