Join Local Nature Lovers For Guided Trail Walk In Long Valley Saturday

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Looking to put some spring in your step? Join the Washington Township Land Trust and the township’s Ad Hoc Trails Committee for an open walk and guided nature tour.

The walk at Mill Pond Park will be Saturday morning, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., a total of about three miles using the Gillette and Columbia trails. If the weather is bad, the walk will happen Sunday.

The Gillette Trail parking area is 0.2 miles east of the Long Valley First Aid Squad, on the left of East Mill Road road across from North Washington Valley Road.

Here is the plan for the hike, according to event organizers:

"We’ll be walking the Gillette Trail to where it connects with the Columbia Trail, then west on the Columbia Trail to Mill Pond Park. In Mill Pond Park, we’ll have a guided tour of the nature trails by Chris Steffan, a current Advisor and longtime steward of the Land Trust’s open space properties. The walk will be about three miles on mostly level terrain with some roots, etc. on the nature trails."

After the walk, there will be a gathering back in the Gillette Trail parking area for light refreshments and conversation.
