Long Valley Junior Women's Club Has An October Blood Drive Planned
Registration is happening now, with the organization teaming up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Residents in or near Long Valley who would like donate blood or make a “Power Red” donation, can do so during an upcoming blood drive planned on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
Co-Hosted by Long Valley’s Junior Women’s Club and the American Red Cross, the drive is happening at the Valley View Chapel on 115 East Mill Road that day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to statistics the Junior Women’s Club posted, a unit of blood is needed every two to three seconds throughout the country.

The American Red Cross defines a blood donation as a pint of whole blood, which takes approximately an hour to donate. A “Power Red” donation entails collection of the red blood cells, with plasma returned to the donors, the organization specifically seeking collections from A negative, B negative or O donor types.
Appointment times run in 15-minute time slots from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. that day, according to the donation time website for the blood drive.
