'Game On' For Mayors As Long Valley Football Sparks Friendly Meal Challenge

It's "game on" for Mayors Matt Murello and Rob Greenbaum, one of them getting ready to buy the other a meal in Long Valley or Mount Olive.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — As the West Morris Central High School Wolfpack takes on the Mount Olive Marauders in football on Friday, the mayors for the two towns have a game of their own going on.

Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello offered a challenge to Mount Olive’s Mayor Rob Greenbaum on Thursday night, as the Wolfpack heads onto Mt. Olive’s turf.

Murello said he’ll buy Greenbaum, “some of the best BBQ around from Long Valley’s Pulled Fork BBQ and local craft beer from Chilton Mill Brewing, for you to enjoy your victory with,” should the Wolfpack not win Friday’s game.

In the lively and friendly banter between the two mayors, with local Facebook spectators watching the action and a few chiming in, Greenbaum replied that he’d buy, “Churrrascaria and Jersey Girl Brewery” for Murello, if the Wolfpack takes the victory.

“Game on! #MountOliveProud!” Greenbaum threw back, with Murello replying, “Indeed Mayor Rob Greenbaum #longvalleystrong.”
