Long Valley Home Struck By Lightning Wednesday Night
No injuries reported after damaging wind and rain storm.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – A damaging storm that knocked out power to dozens in Washington Township also delivered a lightning strike to a Long Valley home Wednesday night.
Around 9:30 p.m. a home on Thomas Farm Lane was hit by a bolt, according to Washington Township Committeeman Matt Murello. Members of the Long Valley, Schooley’s Mountain, and Fairmount fire companies responded to the scene.
The homeowner told Patch that some of the circuits on the electrical panel blew as a result of the strike. Four televisions in the home were ruined, and the back window of the family’s SUV was blown out from the boom. The transformer for the electric dog fence began to smoke after the lightning strike, but was put out before more damage could be done, the homeowner said, and gave kudos to the Washington Township police and fire personnel who arrived on scene.
