Long Valley Lemonade, Cookie Sale Gives Back To Pet Rescue

Two Long Valley kids donated half of their lemonade and cookie proceeds to help a rescue that saves dogs and cats from shelter death rows.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Who can resist a cup of icy lemonade on a summer’s day, paired with fresh-baked cookies, especially when they’re for a good cause?

Two enterprising kids in Long Valley gave 50 percent of their lemonade and cookie proceeds over the past weekend to the Eleventh Hour Rescue, a northern New Jersey non-profit group that plucks dogs and cats “at the eleventh hour” from animal shelter death row sentences.

“It’s the little moments that have a huge effect,” Eleventh Hour Rescue wrote about the youngsters - only known as “Tobin and Sullivan of Long Valley" - for their generosity.

On the rescue's Facebook Page, people can donate to some of Eleventh Hour's specific fur babies waiting for their “fur-ever” homes, their compelling stories and progress shared on the rescue’s main Facebook Page. Eleventh Hour also accepts general donations via the blue “donate” button at the top of the page. People can additionally create Facebook fundraisers in honor of their birthdays, for the rescue.

They currently have a dedicated Facebook Page for the “EHR cats” and “EHR dogs” up for adoption, plus one for the Rockaway Mall Adoption Center, in addition to the rescue’s main Facebook Page and website.

Every month, the rescue spotlights a cat and dog of the month, with July’s Dog of the Month “Kylo Lonestar," an almost two-year-old pup rescued from a Texas shelter, where he was waiting on doggie death row with a broken jaw after taking a hit.
