Long Valley Middle School In Top 10% Of Best NJ Middle Schools: US News

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Long Valley Middle School has been rated in the top 10 percent of US News’ best New Jersey Middle Schools.
The middle school teaches students in grades 6-8, and has more than 650 students. According to a report from U.S. News, which provides annual school ranking statistics, the school placed #107 out of 1,432 NJ middle schools.
According to U.S. News, the school ranks are given are based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare their students for high school.

The report states that the student population particularly excels in reading, with a 73 percent efficiency rate. The school’s math efficiency was rated at 53 percent. Both statistics are better than the state’s average, according to the report.
“Long Valley Middle School did better in math and better in reading in this metric compared with students across the state,” the report read. “In New Jersey, 49% of students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 40% tested at or above that level for math.”

The report added that Long Valley Middle School was “somewhat above expectations,” compared to U.S. News’ standards.
