Washington Township Mayor Matthew Murello recently congratulated the local business on the accomplishment, saying, "please join me in congratulating one of my favorites, Long Valley’s Chesapeake Tavern, on being recognized as one of BestofNJ.com’s best seafood restaurants."

The Chesapeake Bay Seafood Co. opened in Long Valley in the early 1980s in the historic Long Valley Inn building and provided fresh seafood in a relaxed setting. The restaurant eventually closed, only to be reopened in 2012 by Keith Holmes, with the blessing of Swift Seaman, the original Chesapeake owner, the restaurant's website said.

The new Chesapeake Tavern serves as an ode to the old Chesapeake Bay Seafood Company, bringing a modern twist to old and classic dishes.
