Long Valley School Aide, Grandmother Dies At 88

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – For three decades Elizabeth “Betty” Murnane combined her love for children and passion for education in Long Valley.

The former Old Farmers Road School teacher’s assistant died after a brief illness at the age of 88.

Murnane was on the staff at the school for 30 years and enjoyed spending time with her family and animals when she wasn’t teaching.

She is predeceased by her late husband, Oliver, who died in 2003. The couple had six children together, and Murnane leaves behind 14 grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to ASPCA or St. Jude’s Children’s Research.

All arrangements were handled by Cochran Funeral Home on High Street in Hackettstown.
