LONG VALLEY, NJ — We can all agree that the Morris County area has some excellent restaurants that serve a wide range of cuisines, and Washington Township is no exception.

According to a report, one restaurant in Long Valley has been named one of the state's best barbecue joints for 2022.

NJ.com's team of food reporters ranked New Jersey's 33 best barbecue restaurants, and food writer Pete Genovese gave a shoutout to this beloved Long Valley spot.

Coming in at number 29 is Long Valley's own Pulled Fork BBQ.

"They didn’t have brisket or ribs when I stopped, but the pulled pork sandwich alone is enough to get them on this list. Seasoned with sass and spice, it’s a winner," Genovese said.

Pulled Fork BBQ, located at 38 E Mill Road in Long Valley, was founded by Mike Meredith in 2019.

According to the restaurant's website, Meredith moved to New Jersey from Texas in 1999 and quickly realized that a barbecue in the Garden State meant hamburgers and hot dogs, not the ribs, smoked brisket, pulled pork and smoked sausage he was used to in Texas.

Meredith began building drum smokers as a hobby because he enjoyed smoking meat for friends and family. He tried new recipes and techniques, eventually developing his own smoking style that reminded him of the Central-East Texas BBQ he sorely missed.

Menu favorites at Pulled Fork BBQ include a fresh take on the classic Reuben sandwich, a pulled pork quesadilla, cornbread pudding and their sweet southern slaw.

If pulled pork isn't your thing, it's no big deal. The full barbecue menu includes sausage, chicken, burgers, hot dogs and a variety of sides.

Pulled Fork BBQ is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until it runs out of food. The closing time for each day is announced on the website and on the chalkboard out front.
