LONG VALLEY, NJ — Morris County got a shoutout on national television Tuesday night during the sixth episode of NBC's "The Voice" as a local singer impressed the panel of celebrity judges.

Olivia Eden, 15, of Long Valley, wowed the audience when she decided to sing one of the coaches' songs, Niall Horan's "This Town," prompting both Horan and Reba McEntire to turn their chairs in hopes they would be her coach.

"You showed off so many different parts of your voice, like more than I do, and I wrote the thing. It's a really captivating voice, really refreshing to hear," Horan said.

"I'd love you to be on my time, and thanks for picking my song. Thank you," Horan said.

Eden stayed true to her song choice and joined Horan's team.

Eden's blind audition came Tuesday, during the sixth episode of Season 24 of "The Voice," which airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Eden will next be seen during the "Battle Round," section of the show.

According to NBC, the show features five components: blind auditions, battle rounds, knockouts, live playoffs, and live performance showcases. Contestants will compete against contestants from other teams until they reach the live performance shows after being chosen by a coach during a blind audition.

Eden, who is a student at West Morris Central High School, describes herself as a "weird kid," noting that as a child she had an unusual passion for cooking. "At seven, I could chop a carrot 12 different ways," she said. And that passion landed her a spot on "Top Chef Junior" at just 10 years old.

Her love for singing also started when she was young, with Eden noting that she started performing with her dad when she was 6 years old in local talent shows.

"That progressed into us doing these open mics together; we would do art fairs together. Sharing that passion of music with Olivia feels great. She is taking it so far beyond anything I ever thought," her father, Min said.
