LV First Aid Squad Reaches New Heights With Climbing Rescue Drill
The rescue method is meant to help victims stuck on vertical terrains, like building or mountains.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Members of the Long Valley First Aid Squad recently took to Schooley's Mountain Park for a rescue drill.
The squad conducted a “High-Angle Rope Rescue Drill” at one of the park’s cliff sides.
A high-angle rope rescue is a technique used to recover people in distress along buildings, mountains, water towers, and other vertical terrains.

“Rescuers practiced rigging anchor systems, twin-tension rope systems utilizing CMC Clutches, as well as setting up our Arizona Vortex artificial high-directional,” a LVFAS social media post read. “Rescuers got some reps in with litter handling, patient packaging, haul systems and group communications. An excellent day of training!”
