Man Attacked Wife, Son, Threatened To Kill Police: Blairstown PD

Police say the man barricaded himself inside the house after the alleged assault where he stayed for seven hours.

BLAIRSTOWN, NJ β€” A man is accused of attacking his wife and their son inside a Blairstown home, then barricading himself inside with guns during a domestic dispute, Blairstown police said.

The man, who is not named because he has not been formally charged, is accused of attacking his family in their East Crisman Road home Sunday night. Police say he locked himself inside an upstairs room with guns after the attack, and was threatening to kill the family, police officers, and himself.

Both the wife and son escaped the house at the direction of police, NJ.com reported. Neither were seriously injured but did sustain some minor injuries, Capt. Scott Johnsen told Patch.

Law enforcement officers were unable to make contact with the man until they broke through the door around 4 a.m. on Monday. He was arrested and taken to the Warren County Correctional Facility.

Local police officers, State Police, the Warren County Tactical Response Team and Hunterdon County's SWAT all responded to the home.
