Man Stole Cash From Local Car Wash, Cops Say

Man allegedly admitted to stealing cash from Zanes Car Wash while it was closed.

A Hackettstown man was charged with burglary and theft Saturday after Hackettstown police said he burglarized Zanes Car Wash on Route 182.

John Garcia, 26, was arrested after police responded to the car wash just after 6 p.m. after hearing of an alleged burglary in progress, according to Hackettstown Police Sgt. Darren Tynan. Police received a description of a man responsible in the Riverside Gardens parking lot and later identified Garcia, Tynan said.

Garcia admitted to entering Zanes while it was closed and stealing cash, according to Tynan. He was arrested and later released with a ticket to appear in court.
