LONG VALLEY, NJ — While many local neighbors disagreed with the judges on NBC's The Voice, Long Valley's Olivia Eden ultimately did not make it through the battle rounds on Monday night.

Olivia Eden, 15, of Long Valley, first wowed the audience when she decided to sing one of the coaches' songs, Niall Horan's "This Town," during her audition for the reality competition series on Oct. 10.

On Monday, Eden teamed up with teammate Julia Roome, 13, to sing a duet cover of "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer, which Horan said he chose because "it fits right in the middle of Olivia's folky/pop voice and Julia's kind of ethereal storyteller."

The performance prompted some constructive feedback from judge John Legend, who said that this was only the beginning of their careers and that they were "both going to be great." Reba McEntire, who fought for Eden to be on her team, stated that both girls did a great job and offered them advice on their stage presence.

Coach Horan applauded both girls for their performances, saying that Eden's voice was "just so captivating; strange and weird and cool. It's got a bit of everything—I love it." But, ultimately, only one contestant can move on to the knockout round, and that contestant was Roome.

"I want to say thank you. It's been really fun," Eden said before she left the stage.

Eden, who is a student at West Morris Central High School, said that her love for singing started when she was young, with Eden noting that she started performing with her dad when she was 6 years old in local talent shows.

"That progressed into us doing these open mics together; we would do art fairs together. Sharing that passion of music with Olivia feels great. She is taking it so far beyond anything I ever thought," her father, Min, said.

This was also not Eden's first stint on reality television; she previously starred in the Food Network series “Chopped Junior” when she was 10. At age 11, she was also a finalist on Universal Kids’ “Top Chef Junior.”

"It was so tough to see Olivia go. It's going to break my heart for a long time," Horan said. "But I know for a fact that with that tone and that personality, she's going to have a very bright future."
