Movie Filmed In Long Valley Wins Big At Independent Awards Show

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Earlier this summer, film crews transformed parts of Long Valley into a movie set complete with lights and cameras in preparation for filming a new short film.

Innerscope Studio came to Long Valley in early June to film "Mailbox," which has since received critical acclaim and distinction at the Independent Shorts Awards, which were held this month in Los Angeles, California.

The short film not only won the prize for Best Children Short, but it also honored a local child actress, who won the award for Best Child Young Actress.

Directed by Sal Cirmi, "Mailbox" is a captivating short film that has resonated with audiences for its poignant storytelling and performances. The story follows Monica and Alice, two women from different eras who come together and form an unusual bond.

One of the stars of "Mailbox" is nine-year-old Giuliana Sciortino, from Long Valley.

According to Innerscope Studio, Sciortino's portrayal of Monica not only captivated viewers but also caught the attention of the Independent Shorts Awards jury, leading to her recognition as the "Best Child Young Actress" of 2023.

The Independent International Shorts Awards, held annually in Los Angeles, California, are renowned for celebrating outstanding short films and recognizing emerging talents in the film industry, officials said.
