The former owner of Wicker Basket Deli in Mendham has opened his newest venture, bringing his expertise to a new location in Morris County.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — A seasoned deli owner is stepping out of retirement to bring a fresh taste to Morris County with his latest venture.
Opening its doors last week, The Angry Egg in Randolph is more than just a breakfast and lunch spot—it's a labor of love, backed by decades of experience and a commitment to serving delicious food with exceptional service, owner Glenn Schmidl said.
Located at 389 Dover Chester Road in Randolph, The Angry Egg offers a diverse menu featuring breakfast and lunch options, including bagels, classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pancakes, and lunch favorites like Philly cheesesteaks, meatball subs, and classic cheeseburgers.

Schmidl, the former owner of Wicker Basket Deli in Mendham, shared that when planning The Angry Egg, he and his business partner, Jane Kleb, were inspired to recreate the warm, welcoming atmosphere that made Wicker Basket a local favorite.
The menu at the new venture also includes homemade takes on classic dishes, such as 'Jane’s Chicken Sandwich,' featuring a homemade cutlet topped with pesto, secret sauce and burrata cheese.

The Angry Egg is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
