New Eagle Scout Honored By Long Valley Police Department
Sean Carpenter's Eagle Scout project involved creating and designing new benches and shoe cubbies at a local park.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A Boy Scout from Washington Township achieved scouting's highest honor recently, and the Washington Township Police Department alongside Mayor Matt Murello honored him for his service at a recent ceremony.
Washington Township officials presented a formal proclamation to Sean Carpenter, welcoming him into the rank of Eagle Scout. Carpenter is a member of Long Valley Troop 236, Murello said.
"We were honored to be invited to this event and luckily were able to present Sean with a congratulatory letter. Officer Seely once again volunteered to be the presenter after reading about Sean’s accomplishments and future goals. Congratulations Sean," the police department said.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank or achievement in the Boy Scouts of America's Scouts BSA program. Since its inception in 1911, approximately four percent of Scouts are able to earn this rank after a rigorous review process, officials said.
Scouts must organize, create, and supervise a service project that benefits a local church, school, or other nonprofit organization in order to earn the rank.

Carpenter's Eagle Scout project involved the design and construction of benches and shoe cubbies at the skating rink at Harrington Park. Carpenter, according to officials, built two eight-foot-long wooden benches for visitors to use, as well as durable gear cubbies made of PVC pipes.
The cubbies are designed for skaters to use as a place to keep their gear and personal items off the ground.
