According to officials, the playground would be located near the existing fields and surrounded by plenty of parking spaces.

As per the project plan, the Long Valley Rec Soccer Association stated their intention to cover the costs of both the playground and its installation, with the ultimate goal of donating it to Washington Township, mirroring the process followed for the current playground at Califon Field.

In return, Washington Township would be responsible for future maintenance activities, including turning over or fluffing" the mulch annually, which is required by township code requirements, and adding additional mulch to maintain the required depth.

According to the Long Valley Rec Soccer Association, the goal would be to have the playground available for use in time for the 2024 spring soccer season.

The Long Valley Rec Soccer Association's initial plans propose a playground equipped with multiple slides, including a triple slide, a rock climbing wall, as well as various other climbing structures for children and monkey bars.

The Washington Township Land Use Board is in charge of creating and amending the township's master plan, as well as approving conditional use petitions as needed. The board includes nine sitting members and four alternates, according to the proposed ordinance modification.
