Nor'easter Leaves Around 4 Inches Of Rain In Long Valley

The National Weather Service predicts a possibility of up to another two inches of rain by the weekend.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — On par with the initial predictions of the storm, the Nor’easter that drenched the Long Valley area on Monday night and throughout Tuesday dropped around four inches of rainfall.

Showers could possibly return on Friday, according to the National Weather Service, with up about another two inches of rain coming.

New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Monitoring and Standards tracked the rainfall totals near Long Valley at the monitoring station by the South Branch Raritan River finding 3.69 inches in storm's 48 hours, 1.21 inches of rain having fallen in its last 24 hours.

At another nearby monitoring station at the Musconetcong River, the rainfall measured within the storm's 48 hours showed 3.66 inches of rain, 1.31 inches over the last 24 hours.

During the storm on Tuesday, several roads were closed and then reopened, because of flooding, according to Washington Township's Office of Emergency Management, Washington Township Police reporting North 4 Bridges Road, West Mill Road and West Valley Brook Road, had been shut down.

On Thursday, the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures in Long Valley are expected to rise to about 60 degrees, under mostly sunny skies and light winds at 5 mph, after temperatures had dipped to 44 overnight.

On Thursday night, the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures to fall back to 44 again, the winds also remaining calm at 5 mph.

On Friday, showers could return after 2 p.m., under mostly cloudy skies, a high of 55 predicted and gusts up to 20 mph, with showers throughout the day, potentially dropping about another inch or two of rainfall by Friday night, with a low of about 48 degrees.

For Halloween weekend, more showers may fall on Saturday before 2 p.m., with a high of 61 degrees; and Saturday overnight, a possibility of rain and low of 48, before temperatures may rise on Sunday for trick-or-treating to a high of 59 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies.
